This weekend is our 4th of July bash so if you want to come over and meet some people and see whats going on just give me a call and I will give you directions. 303-1807

There is also gaming at the game stores but you will have to contact them directly to get the schedules.

Thanks for the reply. I would love to come out sometime and see how everything works. I have a working knowledge of how the game works its just been a while. A few questions, do all my models have to be painted? Do i have to have my own rule book? Are there people willing to maybe walk me through a game so that i can get everything down so that later it doesn't take forever for me to complete a game? Do i need to bring my own dice, templates etc? I also have a friend that just started building an army and it would be a great help to him as well. Once again, thanks for the reply.

Welcome to the boards Mike. To answer a few of your questions: No, you don't have to have everything painted. This is when you are re-learning the game, and no one will expect you to have painted models. As for a rulebook: kinda sorta should have your own Eventually. The current rule-set is 5th edition, and depending on what army you and your friend are playing you could pick-up a rules-only rulebook pretty cheap. There are plenty of ppl who will play "learning" games with you and your bud to get you to understand the new basics again. Most ppl will already have dice and template to share with you will you are learning.
You didn't say what armies you and your friend are playing but: The box set Assualt on Black Reach has small armies of Marines and Orcs. It also has 1 of those rules-only rulebooks, and all the templates and a small set of dice. It's about $75 now. Somestimes you can buy one, and trade off the models for other army models if you aren't playing one of the 2 that come in the box. Enough rambling. Good luck

Minis do not have to be painted for casual play but it is encouraged. You will have to check with events orginizers for specific events. While you don't need a rule book right away it is a good idea to get one as soon as possible so that you have access to all the rules as well as many events require you to bring all rules and materials. We do teaching games all of the time so no problem. For stuff at my house you can always borrow dice and templates, but if you are going to a store to play you should have everything with you.

Mike:

If you need our contact info you can find it here.

And if you're curious about our events, you can find those here.

Hope you're enjoying Vegas as much as I do: looks like we moved here at about the same time. :)

Would you be interested in other strategy games in addition to 40k? I'm playing DDM Guild's version (ddmguild.com) of Dungeons and Dragons Miniatures Battles. If you have any D&D minis, bring them. If not, you can always borrow some from me and other players.

The first meeting of CCDDM Guild will be at The Little Shop of Magic on Flamingo and Decatur around 3 or 4 pm and running as long as anyone wants to play or until they close the store :).

This meeting will be a demo with a lot of showing and learning going on. I'll be playing a Solitaire variant of the Dungeon Run and will set up Skirmishes and maybe even a Dungeon Delve if we get four or more players interested in doing so.

This is a new chapter of DDM Guild, so come and get in on the ground floor! Help shape the future of the guild and bring your ideas. The current group name, mascot, logos and house rules are my ideas but I'm open to suggestions.

Future days and locations of meetings will depend somewhat on what players who come to this meeting want to do. If another location, day, time etc. would work better for you, let me know and I'll see if I can arrange it.

Also check out our page on meetup.com! It's called 'Clark County Dungeons and Dragons Minis Guild'. You can RSVP for the meeting there (even if you don't RSVP, come anyway). You can also share photos, files and post discussions about the group on that site.

Feel free to contact me here on Vegas Gamers too.

I hope you can come!

John

Hey guys I'm new to the area as well. I have a small amount of my Space Wolves painted and would love to pick the game back up. I would need some "learning" games if thats cool with every one. My friends and I played for about 4 years together in Ohio, but we really played a loose rule system. I would really like to learn how the game is played properly and maybe pick up some strategy and painting tips ( if or when you see my wolves you'll see that I lack skill in the paint department ha ha) How often do you meet?

Hi Kyle,

I am terrible at painting minis too. That's why I usually get pre-painted minis and/or get someone to paint them for me. My paint jobs look like a five year old did them since my hands are a bit shaky :). I might as well just dip them in the paint jar if I have to paint them myself. So don't feel bad. Not everyone has mad paintin skillz in Vegas Gamers.

I've never even heard of Space Wolves but it sounds interesting. I have been playing D&D 3.5, 4.0, DDM Guild and the occasional Pathfinder game lately. I'll make you a deal, I'll teach you to play DDM and you can teach me to play Space Wolves. I usually make it to the Vegas Game Days at the Las Vegas Library so we could play there. Or we could play at one of the area game stores. I try to run DDM Guild games at different game stores that allow table-top gaming around the Vegas area every month.

I've been itching to get back to the gaming table... I LOVED Living Greyhawk and when that ended I tried a couple of "home games" here in Vegas for a few months... then I deployed. I'm back and am jonesing for more games! Has anything come of this…
