How does War of the Ring or the Strategy Game compare to other miniatures strategy games?

This group and games look really cool!  I'm wondering how they compare to some of the other games out there like DDM, Star Wars Miniatures, Warhammer, Warcraft Minis etc.  I play DDM and have looked into SWM and Warcraft Minis a bit.  I'd like to give LOTR's games a try and am curious how experience playing DDM and computer RTS games (including LOTR Battle for Middle Earth I and II) might help (or confuse) me in playing these LOTR table-top games.
