Vegas Gamers

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is VegasGamers.org?
This site is a lot of things, but it is mostly a combination of a web portal and an online social network. A web portal is, in the simplest terms, a "door" to other websites. Las Vegas has lots of great gaming clubs and stores. Whatever game you play, you'll find people to play with here in Vegas. VegasGamers.org is just one place to find links to them all. As an online social network, VegasGamers.org also serves as sort of MySpace or Facebook for local gamers. it is a place to hang out, get to know one another and eventually hook up and play games.

Why does Vegas Gamers exist?
VegasGamers.org exists solely to bring gamers together. While primarily focused on the Las Vegas Valley, VegasGamers.org also serves travelers coming to Vegas looking for a game and/or folks relocating to Vegas.

Is VegasGamers.org a gaming club?
No. Not really. There are lots of great gaming clubs in town. Looking for something specific? Give them a try.
  • Desert of Shadows - A really interesting and cool local Vampire:The Requiem "troop" game. The story line takes place here in Vegas.
  • Knights of Sin City - A local D&D Meetup group. They are pretty active in organizing home games across the city across a variety of campaign settings.
  • Las Vegas Camarilla - The official Vampire:The Requiem LARP for the valley. They also play other White Wolf Games as well.
  • Las Vegas Gamers Club - Best known for Warhammer & Warhammer 40K, but again open to all sorts of games.
  • Las Vegas Magic Players - A group of local Magic:The Gathering players.
  • LV Historicals & LV Wargamers - Babylon 5, Battlefield:Evolution and other Mongoose games. Also, great historical minis presence.
  • Lords of Excess - All sorts of stuff. These guys are all over the map, but in a good way. Good folks all around.
  • Sin City OGREs - Mostly RPGA D&D, but really open to all sorts of games. Hosts of Vegas Game Day.
Did we miss someone? Message me with the name, url and description of the club and we'll add it here.

What are the requirements to join VegasGamers.org?
Aside from being a gamer, there really are not any requirements. VegasGamers.org is open to all individuals and clubs and no formal membership/partnership agreements are required. We do not require clubs to shut down their websites in order to host a group here. To the contrary, we encourage clubs and stores to use VegasGamers.org to augment their websites and promote their events.

How much does all of this cost me or my group?
Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Zip. Zero. ;^) We do this all for free, with no strings attached. Membership will always be free.

What is Vegas Game Day?
Vegas Game Day (VGD) happens every month at the downtown library and there are always plenty of extra tables. Aside from just the fun of playing together, exposing folks to new games and recruiting new players in a vendor-neutral environment is the reason VGD exists and we hope everyone takes advantage of it.

Who can play at Vegas Game Day?
Anyone. Vegas Game Day has always maintained an open door policy and always will. Anyone can come and play ... any game on any game day. We ask that folks give us a heads up so we can help promote their games on both the VGD Warhorn site and VegasGamers.org and so we make sure we set aside enough space for them. Those are the only things we ask and those are requests, not requirements, to help clubs get word out and have a great time gaming.

What about the local game stores?
Do we love the stores? You bet we do. In fact, we support them whenever we are asked to do so. Still, having Vegas Game Day at neutral place to just sit and play is good thing for everyone because it helps the gaming community grow. In fact, here is a list of our favorite local game & comic stores. Be sure to check them out!

Who can blog, form groups and post events on VegasGamers.org?
You! This is a site for and by the community. We post events as we hear about them, but don't wait on us. If you have an event, just post it. The same goes for blogging, creating groups, starting forum discusssions and posting photos, music and video. Knock yourself out!

Are there any rules or restrictions?
Yep. Rule #1 - Use common sense and common courtesy. We do have kids and teens on this website with regularity. So, please refrain from posting links to objectionable content. Rule #2 - When in doubt, refer to Rule #1. Rule #3 - Have fun and don't impede others from doing the same. Other rules may come as we grow, but more than likely, they will simply be clarifications on Rules 1-3.
What is this "Neoncon"I keep hearing about?
Neoncon is gaming convention held each fall here in Las Vegas and run by the folks who bring you VegasGamers.org and Vegas Game Day. In addition to Neoncon, Las Vegas is home to three other major pop-culture conventions: Know of another event? Let us know about it and we will be happy to post it here and on our events calender if needed.
