Palladiums O.G. D20 system is flawless in its simplicity. Roll 4 or higher, you hit pretty much everything. No need to concern yourself with clandestine verbage like THAC0, and armour class nonsense. Shut up and roll!!!!

I know I am gonna catch some flack for saying that, but it was absolute balls. Imagine a setting where you had absolutely no shot at getting out. Playing in a Larp Sabbat (vampire) game a few years back. I killed someone with a candle. We had this test of strength where you had to hold your hand to a candle. My character had the ability to make illusions so my candle was fake. The other player kept taking damage from the flame where I looked unharmed. So there I was. My 12th level Cleric was dead...good and dead for the last time. It was still fairly early into the game session, so I decided to roll up a new character and get back into the game.
