What does everyone think about a Home Brewed Game?

A hereos setting in an alternate reality of earth. The earth has created some type of system that harnessed the latent psychic energy of the world making their deepest beliefs reality. Once this happened though there were some side effects not intended. There has been a resurgence of gods, angels, demons, aliens, etc.

Jesus came back to earth as did Allah, Armagedon happened but the world did not end as many beleived. Due to the clash between Allah and Jesus during the battle of Armagedon the world didn't get destroyed but now is in a state of a post apocalyptic scenario.

The characters would start here in Las Vegas, which is a booming metropolis as Elivs the King and all 50 million Elvis fans now live here. The city is constantly raided by Aliens from area 51 and Evangelical Mormons who now have prophetic powers (no offense to Mormons).

The strong belief in Hell has created a version of Hell on earth in the badlands of Northern Arizona (where on of John McCain's house is), the Mormons on their way to battle the demons trek through Las Vegas and preach with an iron fist, many times turning non-believers into pillars of salt.

Also California fell off into the ocean as many beleived it would, now only a few islands remain, one of which is now the abode of the Prince of Darkness himself Ozzy Osbourne.

The characters were hired by a secret government agency to infiltrate area 51 destroy the power generator that runs the system that is allowing the earths latent psychic beliefs to become reality. Once the generator is destroyed the powers of the new creations will be limited but will not cease to exist.

I think that the humor mixed with reality would be good, it encompassed some more cathartic and morbid aspects as well as scifi. Would anyone be interested in playing something like this?

I wouldn't say that genre bending is bad but I would say that it requires very clear rules to follow.

When you start doing things like alternate realities or "Future histories" as the great master RAH once called his work you need to follow very clear guidelines.

I am a huge fan of homebrewed games. the big question way more important than the setting is the mechanics and the character concepts. that is where your bread and butter lay. I think setting wise a much more interesting idea is to remove all the humour from it and take a survival horror aspect to it. I am not a big fan of comedy in my RPG's I think the concept of religious zealotry could go a long way. Genre bending and moreover genre crossing rarely works well in any kind of prolonged scenario. Elvis is dead, and should stay that way. What if the rule of Las vegas was a Elvis Impersonator who is fooling people into thinking he is still Elvis becuase he is planning on taking over what is left of America with only the old people who still think Elvis is cool, because no one else gives them the time of day...just an example

It's definitley halk-baked, it's just a concept at this point. Mainly with a humorous twist on things to make it fun and interesting. It's by all means not set in stone.

To honest, Its sounds moderately well thought out but also moderately half cocked.
